< medXR Design Sprint (March-May 2025) >
Participated in the Apple Vision Pro Medical XR Design Sprint in collaboration with professionals from Apple, Mass General, and Boston Children's Hospital. The program consists of a 3 week intensive training on native Apple Vision Pro development for designers and developers, followed by a 5 week design sprint. By the end of the program, I expect to gain proficiency in Vision Pro development and hands-on experience collaborating on a clinician-led, interdisciplinary healthcare project.

Theme of the Year: Proposing AI Solutions to Improve Primary Care in Canada.
Across Canada, physicians collectively lose 18.5 million hours every year to administrative tasks. This is equivalent to the full-time work of 7,502 physicians—time that could have been used to care for 55.6 million patients. The cost isn’t just wasted time. It’s delayed care, burnt-out doctors, and a strained healthcare system. But what if AI could handle the busy work, so that physicians can focus on medicine, not messages? This question became the starting point of our team's solution.
Solution: AI-overlay tool to manage EMR inbox 💎✨
My Contribution to the Team: ** Developed the brand story, including the name and logo, to clearly convey our identity and emphasize the solution. ** Designed a user persona—a family physician who already feels overwhelmed by managing administrative tasks and clearing the inbox, even before beginning patient care. ** Improved visual communication in the final deliverables.
Reflection: It was a great honour to collaborate with my team members, each of whom brought a unique perspective—from clinical research to business—fields I don’t often encounter in my MScBMC graduate studies. Their enthusiasm and expertise made tackling this challenge both inspiring and enriching. Presenting our pitch as if launching a startup was a unique and valuable experience, reinforcing the power of visual storytelling in effectively communicating ideas to an audience. This was my first time participating in a competitive pitch deck at IMS, and I was pleasantly surprised that many attendees recognized me and my program due to my ongoing contributions to magazine design. This experience has deepened my interest in the intersection of AI and the medical field. While AI is often viewed with caution, particularly regarding patient data ethics, I have come to realize how eager healthcare professionals are for innovation. I have witnessed how AI can create opportunities for more efficient care, and I now see it as a powerful tool that could transform healthcare delivery and eventually improve patient outcomes.
